When the playback finally starts, it's very choppy. Spinning ball - fcpx 10.6.3 - Mac M1pro - Sony FX9 files Hello folks, i'm having a hard time with the spinning ball appearing when I tried to playback the timeline, specially from the very begginning. I'm right in the middle of a very time sensitive project and don t want to update to Big Sur, so I'm on catalina 10.15.7 running a 2018 iMac Pro:Īny ideas about this strange behaviour would be great as it's really caused me a problem with the editing flow. Initially I couldn't even start FCPX and then went on a 2 hour journey of finding out it was all my core melt plugins so they are also now all gone. Opened it up and those projects are still doing the same thing. I then realised I had an oldish version of FCPX (I have a work administered machine and working from home meant I haven't been able to update it) So I finally got some remote support to download the latest version so went from 10.4.7 to 10.5.2. So did a prefs trash, all the usual things but that didn't work. Next I went to cut an audio clip and it then cut something above the primary line and inserted a huge blank space and then put the new cut section right that the end of that. Then if I dragged a clip down the whole interface on the viewer and timeline flickered and the clip didn't drop at the end but at some random place in the edit. E placed the clip on the second from the end, W did the same and Q created a random blank space and then placed the clip at the end of that above the primary storyline. None of the usual insert/append/overwrite shortcuts worked and instead they did different things. Today, for some reason FCP starting acting up.
